Can Sueño is a small country property located in the mountains of the Costa Blanca, amongst cultivations of cherry, almond and olive trees. Can Sueño is a place for nature lovers, and we are blessed with a very special location, totally private, unique, and sunny throughout the whole day, yet only a few minutes from the villages of Tárbena and Castell de Castells.
About us
The word Can originates from a special Mallorcan influenced version of the Valencian language spoken here in the local area, and means house. Sueño is taken from Spanish and means dream, so you can translate it as a hidden inn or dream house. And it really is like something from a fairytale, journeying up into the mountains, the decoration, the setting, the lunch experience, one of our clients has described it as a ‘magic place’. It’s something of a mountain adventure to arrive here, but is only around 1 hour by car from many coastal locations, inland from Denia and Altea.
The building was built less than twenty years ago but feels older, featuring a nice combination of modern but with rustic touches. The terrace and main garden faces south, with spectacular mountain and valley views. The property consists of more than two hectares of land, including native untouched mountain vegetation, pine and Mediterranean oak trees, merging naturally into some more cultivated garden areas.
We are totally off grid, so we harvest the energy we need with light from the sun. At the weekends, we open a small restaurant, you can reserve a table to enjoy an exclusive Can Sueño lunch. Lunch is served in a cosy salon with an open kitchen and fire place and doors to the terrace. Please reserve in advance as tables are limited. The landscape and surroundings are very much part of the lunch experience, as during lunch we give you as many opportunities as possible to wander around the property and enjoy the unique setting. We take our inspiration for the menu and decoration from the garden, and wonderful mediterranean seasonal products. There are plenty of special corners to enjoy a lovely drink in the sun and amazing mountain views. At the moment Can Sueño has one guest bedroom available for overnight stays or holidays. Situated in the upper floor, the suite has plenty of natural light, a spacious bathroom and wonderful large private terrace with amazing views of the valley.
